Thursday 19th May
Talking about ‘mental health’ in open forum is becoming an accepted part of modern life and thank goodness for that. For sure the stigma is going because anyone can suffer and no-one is immune.
Today we are horrified how, for example, WWI shell-shocked soldiers were treated. That was then. It may not be as bad now but there is a cost-of-living crisis looming – how will people cope?
Recognising there is a problem IAM RoadSmart have appointed Stephen Carr as Mental Health Ambassador. Stephen, a former soldier who served in Northern Ireland, Africa and Iraq, achieved his Masters with a Distinction in 2013 which played an important part in his recovery from PTSD.
Stephen will be with us in Norwich to deliver a talk about the benefits of having qualified Mental Health First Aiders within a group. Stephen is a former IAM Group Chairman, a current Motorbike Examiner and Masters Mentor who completed his Mental Health training last year.
We look forward to seeing you at the usual place and the usual time. Also as usual, there will be a buffet to keep you going.
Saturday 2nd July
The famous ‘CJ Ball Breakfast Ride’ is Back.
Thinking of a new bike? This is your moment for a no pressure demo ride on a range of bikes. Chris is providing 10 new Hondas and Suzukis for NAM members to try out. It’s an early start (arrive at 06.45am to register) select your bike and it’s away on a 70-mile ride led by a NAM Observer around Norfolk ending back in Norwich for a breakfast courtesy of Chris. The only cost is for you to replenish the fuel in ‘your’ bike’s tank.
